My Style

Hamptons Style Home

In the heart of Kent!

One of the biggest questions I get asked is ‘How would I describe my style’? Quite simply, I would say my style is an Eclectic Mix. Over the years, my tastes have evolved, now tending towards a blend of Hamptons Style along with other North American/Canadian Styles.

The biggest area where you notice the different styles is in the ‘Openplan Living Space,’ where both dark wood and painted furniture sit side by side. This fusion creates a dynamic and inviting atmosphere, reflecting my diverse influences and personal aesthetic journey.

Last year when we decorated most of the house we added paneling and divided areas with moldings around the beams that divide the hall, dining, living room, and kitchen. This also allowed us to decorate every zone differently… which is something you see in a lot of American/Canadian homes.

The influence for the house is North American/Canadian where we lived in the mid-1990s and early 2000s.

Frequently asked questions

About my home…

Yes, even if I won the lottery I would keep this house. The only way I will leave here is in a box.

It took from start to finish 8 months… we lived in the reno much to the builder’s horror! We had no hot water or heating during that time, and at one stage we had no roof!

The simple answer is NO! I consider we were really lucky with this build, we had no major horrors happen and I don’t think we could ever be that lucky again!

We have Cedral Cladding and the colour is Beige/Grey… it was one of the best last-minute decisions we made regarding the house as it gives a real North American feel to our home.

Yes I would LOVE a swimming pool, I know that they are impractical, expensive, we do not get the weather, etc, but I still would love one! I can picture it in my mind.

I wish I had said to the builders that the original plan had been that there was going to be a bonus space over the front bedroom that could have been converted to a bathroom in the future, but I forgot!

And I wish the utility room had had space for a MUD ROOM… they always look fab on Instagram don’t they?

The majority is from BHS and most of the lamps are also from there too.

The Island light is however from Pooky

When it comes to decorating my home, I’m drawn to cream tones and warm shades. Although I do have a few grey rooms in the mix, I prefer something that adds a bit more warmth! That said, the classic Hampton style is also something that I find really appealing – blue and white ginger jars make for beautiful accents.

Ah, that is a difficult decision to make! I would love to choose both the Air Conditioning and my Fohen Boil Tap as they are both indispensable for my home. However, if I had to pick one, it would have to be the Air Conditioning because of the timber frame components of my house.

This is hard, as I LOVE Neptune and could quite easily live in their Canterbury store! But I also love other brands as well, such as The White Company, Cox and Cox to name but a few!

Another tough question! I love so many The House Build, The Hollies, Rebecca Riley Home, and The Felicitous Home, are amongst my UK favourites, and then in the USA these are a few that I follow

I would say all of the above… however, I have also made loads of friends on Instagram over the last two years and I would really love to go and visit them.
