Take the Quiz: What’s Your Interior Design Personality?

Are You Type A, Type B… or a Type A/B when it comes to Interior Style?

Have you ever walked into a home and immediately thought “this feels so me” or the complete opposite, “I could never live like this”?

The spaces we feel most comfortable in are often a reflection of our personality. Some people love calm, organised environments. Others thrive in spaces full of personality and layers of creativity.

Most people fall somewhere into two broad personality types when it comes to interiors, but many of us are actually a blend of both.

Understanding your natural interior style can make decorating much easier, because instead of following trends, you start designing a home that truly feels right for you.

Let’s look at the three most common interior personalities.

“Some people crave calm order, others LOVE creative expression. The magic often happens in the middle, where Type A & Type B meet.”

the Calm Curator

If you’re drawn to interiors that feel calm, balanced and beautifully organised, you may be a Type A interior personality.

You likely appreciate spaces that feel uncluttered and thoughtfully arranged. A home that feels peaceful and visually calm helps you relax and think clearly. You probably prefer quality over quantity when it comes to furniture and décor, choosing pieces carefully rather than filling a space with lots of objects.

Type A interiors often feel refined and timeless. Soft neutral colours, natural materials and well-structured layouts create a sense of order and harmony.

People with this personality are often drawn to styles such as modern classic, Scandinavian design, timeless country interiors or elegant minimalist spaces.

These homes feel calm, polished and quietly sophisticated.

Type B

the Creative Stylist

If you love personality, colour and layered spaces that tell a story, you may lean towards a Type B interior personality.

Your home is probably a place where creativity shows up everywhere. You may enjoy mixing textures, styling shelves, displaying meaningful objects and constantly evolving the space as new ideas appear.

Rather than worrying about strict rules, you enjoy creating an atmosphere that feels warm, expressive and uniquely yours.

Type B interiors often include art, textiles, interesting lighting and pieces collected over time. These homes tend to feel welcoming, full of character and rich with personality.

People with this style often gravitate towards eclectic interiors, bohemian spaces, colourful contemporary homes or artistic layered styling.

Type A/B, the Balanced Designer

Many people are actually a blend of Type A and Type B, combining a love of beautiful design with a desire for balance and structure.

Your home may include statement pieces, artwork or texture, but everything still feels intentional rather than cluttered.

Type A/B interiors often strike the perfect balance between structure and creativity. Think layered neutral palettes, carefully styled shelves, beautiful lighting and furniture that feels both practical and elegant.

People with this personality are often drawn to styles such as modern farmhouse, relaxed contemporary, modern country, Ralph Lauren inspired interiors or elevated cosy spaces.

Why Understanding Your Style Matters

One of the biggest reasons people struggle with decorating is trying to follow trends that don’t actually suit their personality.

When you understand your natural style, it becomes much easier to:

  • Choose furniture and colours confidently
  • Create a home that feels comfortable and authentic
  • Void design decisions that don’t feel quite right

Your home should feel like an extension of you.
