Achieving Spa-Like Bliss: Tips for a Luxury Bathroom Makeover

Our bathroom RENOVATION

Here are my tips for achieving a luxury bathroom. I’m thrilled with our new space! It’s amazing to think I once liked the old wallpaper, especially considering how torn I was about whether to keep it. But now, the new bathroom truly has that ‘spa-like feel’ I’ve always dreamed of.

The bathroom now has a lovely neutral palette with a mix of white, off-white, and touches of black, complemented by beautiful lighting. For me, it’s the vanity, shower and the tiles that elevate the space and make it special.

The ‘must have’ list for the new bathroom

  • New vanity that aligns with our evolved style since building the house
  • Frameless shower screen to replace the old one I disliked
  • Larger tiles with minimal grout
  • Shower niche to replace wall baskets I disliked
  • Rainfall shower
  • Reduce the box beside the toilet to make cleaning easier
  • Replacement taps
  • Shower attachment on the bath for usability
  • Bump out the wall behind the bath to create a niche and display shelf
  • Mirror with Bluetooth functionality
  • Sunken bathroom cabinet
  • A ‘spa or high-end hotel’ feel that was both elegant and functional

Achieving the LOOK…

One of my main goals for the bathroom makeover was to create a spa-like atmosphere with more space for display. The biggest challenge with a bathroom that has a sloping roof is the lack of wall space for shelves or even mirrors above the sink. Although we considered rearranging the entire room, the best option was to keep everything in its original place.

To achieve the look, we chose a new vanity that aligns with our evolved style since building the house and installed a frameless shower screen to replace the old one I disliked. Larger tiles with minimal grout and a shower niche to eliminate the need for wall baskets add to the clean, spacious feel.

A rainfall shower enhances the spa-like experience, and reducing the box beside the toilet makes cleaning easier.

We added replacement taps and a shower attachment on the bath for increased functionality. Additionally, we bumped out the wall behind the bath to create a niche and shelf for display, installed a Bluetooth mirror, and included a recessed bathroom cabinet to complete the transformation.

Tips for a Luxury Bathroom

Achieving your spa bathroom…

Maximise Space with Smart Storage Solutions

To create a spa-like atmosphere, aim for a clean, uncluttered look. Utilise niches and recessed cabinets to keep essentials organised and out of sight. For bathrooms with sloping roofs, consider custom shelving solutions to make the most of available space without overcrowding.

Upgrade to a Modern Vanity

A stylish vanity that aligns with your current design aesthetic can significantly elevate the overall look. Opt for one with ample storage and a sleek, modern design to keep your bathroom both functional and beautiful.

Install a Frameless Shower Screen

A frameless shower screen opens up the room, creating a seamless and spacious feel. This simple upgrade can make a huge difference, especially if you’re dealing with a smaller bathroom or awkward layout.

Choose Larger Tiles and Minimal Grout Lines

Larger tiles with minimal grout lines create a sleek, uninterrupted look that enhances the sense of space. They are also easier to clean, contributing to the overall low-maintenance, luxurious feel of your spa bathroom.

Incorporate Luxury Fixtures and Tech

Elevate your bathroom experience with a rainfall shower and replacement taps that offer both style and functionality. Consider tech-savvy additions like a Bluetooth mirror for a modern touch. These details not only enhance the aesthetic but also improve the daily usability of your bathroom.

By focusing on these key areas, you can transform your bathroom into a serene and luxurious spa-like retreat.
