Living in Dubai, all you need to know

Life in the UAE

Have you ever wondered what living in Dubai would be like? Today I am at home in Dubai with Tracey aka @tracey_interior who is living in Dubai and made it her home… here is her story of making a home in the UAE, and from what I can tell she loves living there.

I have been on holiday to Dubai, and have wondered what life would be like living there full time.

Every time WE LEARN to see differently.

Tell me a bit about you.

I’m Tracey married to my Husband with three Daughters aged 25, 18, and 15 years, two of whom are now back in the UK. We have been living in the Middle East for almost nine years and are currently based in Dubai. We came to Dubai with my husband’s job.

Where else have you lived in the world and what inspires you to travel and live in different places?

Apart from the UK, we have also lived in Qatar. We love travelling to new countries and experiencing different cultures and interior styling.

Tell me about your home?

We currently live in a rented detached 4-bedroom villa. It has a very neutral palate which makes it easy to furnish and accessorise with existing furniture. Being rented we are not able to make any structural modifications.

Was it easy to move to Dubai?

Yes, you need to have paperwork in place. It takes approximately 12 months to feel fully settled.

Describe your style.

I love a neutral colour scheme with scattered accent colours. I also like sustainable materials and am always on the lookout for ‘wow factor’ pieces in unexpected shops, especially when there is a bargain to be had!

What is the one thing you miss about living in the UK?

Elderly relatives who are not able to travel to visit us and enjoy the fine weather.

Tell me about the course you are doing and are you hoping to turn it into a full-time business?

I will be finishing my degree in Interior Design in August and will then be starting my own Interior Design business specialising in expatriate relocation.
