New England Style Home

Clapperboard Style
One of the smartest choices we made during the construction of our home was to forgo traditional rendering! Initially, the plan was to apply render to 90% of the house, with only Cedral cladding on the upper portions at the rear and sides. However, when the cost estimate for the render came back at double the expense of Cedral, the decision became crystal clear!
So now when you look at our home you see a New England Style Home, however, it wasn’t always like this! It’s hard to remember that underneath all the beautiful Cedral Cladding is, some very ugly 1950/60’s brickwork!
The BIGGEST problem when renovating an old house…
One of the biggest challenges of buying a ‘Fixer Upper’ is that you have to blend the old with the new… and as we had decided to go renovate rather than knock down and start again, we knew we would need to address the overall appearance of the house once it was finished.
CEDRAL IS NOT AS EXPENSIVE AS YOU THINK
Originally we assumed that Cedral Facade would be too expensive. As such, we made a decision that we would just clad the upper section of the house. With the bottom half rendered in white!
However, when the quotes for both came in it quickly became apparent that Cedral was in fact the cheaper and far nicer alternative! Coming in some £20K under budget…
WE GOT OUR NEW ENGLAND STYLE HOME!!
It is a decision that we have never regretted and it has given the house the North American/Canadian feel that we really wanted for the house.
One of the overriding things that I LOVE is the fact that we totally nailed the North American/Canadian look and feel that we were trying to achieve. Having lived in New England, Palm Beach, and Canada we really wanted our home to reflect that style.
Our home sits on the corner of two busy main roads and attracts attention from passersby! I have had many people knock on the door asking what it is and what colour it is? I have even picked up people on the door camera armed with colour samples, trying to work out which colour it is! To answer that question it’s CO3 Grey.
SO WHAT IS CEDRAL FACADE?
Cedral cladding is a great way to improve the look of your home. It’s an easy and affordable way to change the way your home looks, and it can also help protect your home from the elements.
Cedral cladding is made from Fibre cement that combines the best of science and nature. It is a sustainable material made of cement, cellulose, sand, synthetic fibres, and water, allowing for strong and high-performance cladding that adds value to your home.

Why CEDRAL

Why use Fibre Cement?
Excellent Fire Classification: Cedral products comprehensively meet the fire performance classification A2-s1,d0 to EN 13501-1:2018.
LOW MAINTENANCE, RESISTANT TO ROT AND WARPING:
Fibre cement doesn’t rot and lasts longer than traditional cladding materials. It doesn’t contain any metals so it won’t rust. Thanks to its thermal stability it will not warp or crack under high temperatures.
STANDS UP TO THE HARSHEST WEATHER CONDITIONS:
Fibre cement is resistant to all kinds of weather, from severe frosts and torrential rain to high heat and direct sunlight. It has a minimum life expectancy of 50 years.
Cedral cladding is available in a variety of colours, so you should be able to find something that will complement your home’s existing style.
